A small island nation located off the east coast of Africa, Genosha is a green and pleasant land known for its high standard of living, an excellent economy, freedom from the political and racial turmoil that characterizes neighboring nations, and ample food and space for all. However, Genosha's riches could be attributed to its previous mutant slave labor system considering the economic infrastructure was built on the backs of its mutant population. Genoshan citizens were previously required to undergo genetic testing upon turning thirteen years old, and those who tested positive with the mutant gene were, by law, property of the state. Mutant citizens were easily identified by a unique number that was branded onto their forehead. After the United Nations 'agreed' to help organize a peacekeeping mission on the island, a re-vamped Genosha became the capital of Magneto’s global mutant empire. Now the island serves as both a base for the Brotherhood and their training grounds - in addition to their residence in New York. On paper, the government is comprised of both humans and mutants so that they may share the island, and the new government promises kindness and humane treatment of mutants. Whether or not the human population diminishes remains to be seen, but now that Magneto has a good amount of control over the island it's on its way to becoming mutant utopia...for now, anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The new HQ. ![]() Grounds for training. ![]() ![]() The 'downtown' section doesn't care what you look like, accepting all mutants no matter what their appearance may be. Most of the businesses in this section are mutant-run and range from small convenience stores to clothing shops to restaurants to nightclubs. |
