Rules of the Game

RULES These rules apply to all members of Art of War (AoW). Violation of the rules can and will result in moderator action. While the mods hope to not need to enforce the rules too stringently, these exist in order to make gameplay more smooth. For a list of FAQs, go here. FANDOM/SETTING Art of War (AoW) is based on the Marvel universe series of comics and films with a modern-day alternate universe setting. The game will be inspired by real-world current events but will diverge from both Marvel canon and actual news. CHARACTERS We accept applications for both canon and original characters. We do have a character limit and it is 6 per player* at this time. Play to the amount of activity that you think you can handle. Please see the notes about activity and dropped logs further down as well. *The ONLY exception to this rule extends to the players of Xavier and Magneto per the mod team, since these characters have been moved from NPC status to full-time muses. It should also be noted that AoW is not a high-school game and as such, we will only be accepting characters age 18 and older. PBs It is expected that an actor or actress be chosen to represent the character, rather than simply illustrations. Also, please don't feel confined to using movieverse PBs - other visions of characters are encouraged. ACTIVITY Players must post a minimum of 4 times per month. Activity is based on the individual player, not the characters. These post can be in any medium, as long as it is IN character and on either the main community or as a journal entry. New players must post at least once in their first week after acceptance. If you apply and your character is rejected, you have three days to make the noted revisions on the application. If your character is accepted, there is a wait time of two complete logs for that character before a new character can be applied for. Any current player in AoW applying for another character must have met the activity requirements for his or her other character(s) for a new character to be accepted. Dropped/abandoned logs and inconsistent activity will be taken into consideration when applications from current players are under review. If you need to take a break, be that from the game or from a character, please say something! The message doesn't have to be long but we want to be sure that people are aware when players/characters are taking a break so that feelings aren't hurt, plots can be worked around, etc. No one will question your need to break - we and your fellow players just need to know that you are doing so. There is an in case of absence form that should be utilized if you'll be away for a bit. DROPPED LOGS Occasionally, a log just doesn't work. It doesn't go in the direction one or both of the players thought it would, or it's not clear how to come to a conclusion. But dropped logs - a thread in which one of the players stops replying altogether and abandons the scene - are highly frowned upon. As a matter of consideration for your fellow players and just to extend courtesy, if a scene isn't working out for you then simply talk to your fellow player. It's often the case where the other person is feeling that way too. Abandoned logs will count against a player's activity, and will be taken into consideration when holds are requested or applications submitted. PLOTS All major plots should be posted to the OOC community (artofwar_ooc) for approval and tagged "plot." If you're not certain whether a plot is major, feel free to shoot an email over to the mods. The OOC community is a good place to seek help on putting together a plot as well. BEHAVIOR The only rule in terms of dealing with your fellow players and the moderators is that you give respect to all involved with this game. Any disputes should be handled civilly between players, and if players are unable to end a dispute between themselves they are encouraged to contact a moderator at artofwarrpg@gmail.com. It is our responsibility to help those individuals work things out, and the mods promise to listen to each side fairly. ERRATA This game is 17 and over with mature themes. No matter your age, if you have problems dealing with content of a graphic nature, do not apply. All posts of graphic nature or sensitive content are to be f-locked and some sort of warning should be placed on the post. All personal contact information (including personal email/messenger information) is to be kept strictly confidential unless given permission from the people involved. HAVE FUN No, really.
