HOW TO APPLY:

Interested in applying for Art of War? Here is the place to get started on your application. Fill out the information below and send it in the body of an email to artofwarrpg@gmail.com. If you have questions for the mods, please don't hesitate to email when working on the application.

Please note: we do advise that you place a hold on your prospective character and/or PB before beginning your application. Taken characters may be found here and a list of faces in use is here.

Applications are typically processed within 24-48 hours. If revisions are needed, the applicants are given three days to complete those and then re-submit. Upon acceptance, please (if you haven't already) post your character's application in the journal you are using for him/her, so other players may refer back to it for the sake of plot. Also, new players will be required to post at least once (log or journal entry) in their first week after acceptance.

Modern Character or 1960s Reality-based Character:

At game start, the year was 1963. But at the conclusion of a game-wide group plot, the Scarlet Witch altered reality for all characters involved. This shifted the original 1963 reality to a reality which occurs in the present day. New applicants have a choice of either having their character be from this modern age or shifted from the 1963 reality along with all characters present in the game from April 2011-November 2011.

Personality:

Hold it, Dr. Freud! You don't have to get too in-depth. We just need to get a sense for how the character operates, so 2-3 meaty paragraphs should suffice.

History:

This should be the history of the character as you intend to play him/her. There are many iterations of characters in the Marvel universe - this section should really explain your character's story from square one. Please give the history your own flair and do not just copy and paste from the Marvel wiki. Doing so will just mean you'll have to re-write this portion, and the mods don't want to read the Marvel wiki a million times either.

Powers & Special Abilities:

These are the powers and abilities your character is beginning the game with. The general rule is for powers to stay canonically similar. It isn't uncommon due to storylines for characters' powers to change; however, we're looking for their powers as of now.

First-Person Sample:

Please provide an example of at least one paragraph of a journal post your character might make. The journals work like any other online blog site such as IJ or LJ, and thus should be in first person. Try to showcase your character's voice as much as you can.

Third-Person Sample:

Please write or provide a roleplaying sample in third-person format. You may provide a link to a scene with another character or paste it into your application. If this is done, please just remember to indicate which character is yours!

Other:

Provide something that shows the mods a little bit of your character's personality. Use any medium you want--be that words, art, poetry, music, computer program, powerpoint, video--whatever you can think of. No medium is better than the other--this is simply a chance for you to have fun with the application.

For our sanity, please keep it to one of the following formats: .flv, .mp3, .mp4, .pdf, .xlsx, .psd, .txt, .jpg, .bmp, .rar, .zip, Google Docs, and/or Microsoft Office files. If you're not sure whether we can read your file, please query.
